In 2007, Adamstown opened the doors of its first two primary schools. The two selected patron bodies to operate the schools are Educate Together National School and St. John the Evangelist Catholic School. Both schools are currently accepting enrollment requests for any school year up to 2012. Contact Educate Together on 01 6540088 or contact St. John the Evangelist on 087 7535735.
In addition, planning permission was granted on the 12th of December 2007 for a 1,000-pupil post primary school with associated community facilities. The school will be located on the campus site adjacent to the existing primary schools. The permission also includes 3 basketball courts, which are a part of the School Physical Education facilities, and an all weather pitch. In addition, the school will have arranged access to the sports and leisure centre, including a swimming pool, programmed to open in 2009.
The permission also grants the development of a new community centre. The centre will include a large community sports hall, (which again will be utilised by the post-primary school during school hours), multifunctional community rooms, offices and administration facilities. In terms of childcare places, the first crèche, is opening in February 2008 and will be operated by Giraffe. It will have a capacity to accommodate 100 children.
The crèche, strategically located beside Adamstown’s primary schools in Adamstown Castle will open from 7:15am to 6:45pm Monday –Friday. If you are interested in finding out any further information on Giraffe’s educational programmes, or interested in enquiring about your current or upcoming childcare needs, you can contact Louise on 1850 20 10 99.
